IMPLICIT RACIAL BIAS + YOUR BRAND

“You might be racist.”

Antar Hanif

We filmed this episode after the BLM protests. Brands were jumping on the bandwagon of posting black squares in their grid, and many of us posted shallow posts and promises we never intended to keep.

This is for anyone (brand or otherwise) looking to have an authentic conversation about race, and not just post a black square without any substance. Don’t post just to post. Post because you are deeply invested (and actually interested) in creating a better future for all. That investment can lead to an understanding of your own ignorance. From there your brand can offer something that actually helps. Don’t make empty promises and create shallow content.

@iamshooter offered 3 ways that you can start the process internally:

1. Reach out to people who know more than you.
2. Gain resources + materials.
3. Make room for people to disagree with you.

Since the shooting of Jacob Blake we are once again faced with the fact nothing has changed. We can all do better, and it starts with all of us as advocates for the black and brown communities.

Thanks again, Antar for allowing yourself to be a resource and for always making time for a conversation.
