STARTUP LESSONS FROM KOBE

“This one hits hard for me, startups are hard. Really hard. And many people in my life (especially my family) don’t understand why I work so much. I often get told to slow down, to work less, to be less intense, to take a vacation, that I have a one track mind etc. The thing that people don’t get is that the obsession is SO MUCH FUN.
I could make a lot more money somewhere else… money isn’t the goal. There are better and easier ways to make money than starting a company. (Huge misconception - founders are rich, most are loosing their a** - but that’s another post).
Those of us crazy enough to take on the challenge LOVE what we do. We LOVE building things. We LOVE taking things apart - to both understand them better and then put them back together. We LOVE our teams - seeing people grow, and becoming better business people. We LOVE the process - in a very obsessive Kobe-like way.
If we didn’t LOVE it, we wouldn’t work every holiday (including Christmas), choose deadlines over dates, or forget to eat/sleep/go to the bathroom (gotta hold it). This isn’t a Gary V motivational mumbo jumbo, this is something that is either true for you or not. You gotta love solving really hard problems (over and over again). You gotta love pain.” – @sanjak
